I am the Chair of GAS a local group of like minded storytellers so come along and join us at our First Friday Flings which are normally open storytelling session and I will normally tell at these events which are held on the first Friday of the month.

FRIDAY, 17 NOVEMBER 2023 Scottish International Storytelling Festival BALLADS AND STORIES Time: 7 to 9pm | Location: St Peter’s Heritage Centre, Peterculter In partnership with Traditional Music and Song Association of Scotland (TMSA), GAS is delighted to be hosting an evening of stories and ballads. Join us around the fireplace, so to speak, and share in an evening of entertainment without radio, television, and social media.

TOILET TALES FOR CHILDREN

2-3PM St Peter's Heritage Centre Hall So looking forward to telling stories along with Nicola and Jackie all about poo and wee.  Great fun bring the kids along.  Donations as its fund raising event for providing a toilets to less well off.

TOILET TALES  FOR THE GROWN UP (mAYBE BETTER BEHAVIED)  Time: 7 to 9pm | Location: Dunbar Street Hall, AB24 3UJ | Pay what you can Join storytellers Jackie Ross and Nicola Wright in celebrating World Toilet Day with GAS, all to raise money for the charity Toilet Twinning, which helps thousands of people across the world get access to clean water and sanitation. This is an evening of stories, quizzes, and fascinating historical facts about the necessary thing we all need to do – go to the loo.

TALES FROM THE NORTH-EAST AND BEYOND 28/11/23    Phyll McBain and Guests Time: 6.30 to 8pm | Location: Sir Duncan Rice Library, Fl. 2, Seminar Room 224 | Free but ticketed Talented and hilarious storyteller Phyll McBain will lead this exuberant evening of storytelling. Her Doric tales will explore anecdotes from her own life and the story of how she became a storyteller. Phyll will then invite up-and-coming tellers from around the North-East, who will share tales of real life and traditional tales with a modern twist.

Participants will find this a safe space to try out storytelling or just to listen to stories, all with a nice cup of tea or coffee and a wee biscuit at half time.

FRIDAY, 27 OCTOBER 2023 Scottish International Storytelling Festival THE THREE APPRENTICES Phyll McBain, David Pullar, Cara Roberts Time: 7 to 9pm | Location: St Peter’s Heritage Centre, Peterculter Join Phyll McBain, David Pullar, and Cara Roberts as they share story magic with you. All three are Apprentice Storytellers with the Scottish Storytelling Centre, and all are bringing new voice to the North-East from the North-East

21st September  7.30pm Scottish Storytelling Centre.   Supernatural Creatures  The theme for the evening.  I will be joining other wonderful apprentice storytellers on the stage.  Getting excited already.

Delighted to have been part of the team who have put together this years Aberdeen & Beyond Storytelling Festival.  Which is possible by the support of Scottish Storytelling Centre, TRACS and Scottish International Storytelling Festival " Go Local Programme."

27th May 2.30pm Glenesk Folk Museum 2.30 pm telling along with Sheena Blackhall.

18th May 7.30pm Scottish Storytelling Centre Edinburgh as one of the apprentice tellers taking part in "Stories on the Way" theme Tasty Tales.

5th May GAS FFF a Hybrid event on Zoom and also at St Peter's Heritage Centre, Peterculter 7pm.  Open mic event where you can come and listen or tell.

2nd December Frist Friday Fling GAS Event, Family friendly open mick at Peterculter Heritage Centre

27th Nov started my Storytelling Apprenticeship with Scottish Storytelling Centre.

19th November Scottish Storytelling Centre. Edinburgh  One of the tellers at grand event on Worlds "Toilet Day"  What a fun theme for an event.

2th November Culter Library 11 am.  One hour of stories stories for children aged 8 yrs to 12 yrs.  Book your place by contacting Culter Library.  Themed "Aberdeen Voices"

4th November Frist Friday Fling GAS Event.  I am not telling but will be supporting the event in partnership with Elphinstone Institute.  Five local tellers telling a story and then taking part in a question and answer session.  Best venues every King's Chapel at the university.

This was a grand event, well attended and such a delight to listen to 5 tellers and the interviews were delightfully light-hearted and funny.
